Silk-Dyed Easter Eggs

Hi Ladies,

This isn't part of the normal Delish routine, but we had so much fun dying easter eggs this year that I wanted to share. Have you ever tried dying your easter eggs with silk ties? See for the complete tutorial. Very simple, easy, and quite clever I might add!
You need to use 100% silk fabric - the silk ties at our local Goodwill were $3.99 each, and I wasn't about to buy 4 and spend $16 for egg dye, so we hunted around in the women's blouses until we found a 100% silk blouse, which easily covered 12+ eggs. The fabric wasn't as bright as some in the tutorial, but the design was wonderful and I loved the result!

Just a fun idea to try. Happy Easter!

Oh now that is fancy. Just plain fancy.

I did the same thing today!!! I was able to find cheap silk ties, so I had 5 different prints. The only disappointment was that two of the prints didn't transfer well, but the others did, and they looked pretty cool! I saved the fabric I didn't use and plan to do it again next Easter.

Silk blouse -- now that's a good idea! I wish I'd thought of that. The ties at my thrift stores were also about $4 each, although I was able to get a couple for half off.

I picked up several ties to try this out this weekend, but I didn't realize that I needed an old sheet. I don't have any I can cut up, so I'm going to have to wait to try this till I can find some cheap fabric to use.

I'm glad you tried this! I've been wanting to try this since I saw that post last year.
